All Events at MEETINGBROOK are free, open & informal

Please Note:
Meetingbrook will be closed weekdays the last two weeks in February,
Monday – Friday

     Feb.18th-22nd
    Feb. 25th – Mar.1st

We will be open on weekends Saturday and Sunday
    Feb.23rd –24th
     Mar. 2nd- 3rd.

No weekday evening events will be held during this time.
Sunday Evening Practice will be held at the hermitage.
Evening events will resume with Tuesday Evening Buddhist Studies, Mar.5th

Consult “Today at Meetingbrook” for any furtherchanges in schedule.

Special Events:

Video Series in Rockland, A new Eckhart Tolle Video Series begins again Friday Feb 22 at 6:30pm in the Community Room of the Rockland Public Library. Open to all, free of charge, the series is being sponsored by The Rockland Public Library, the Center for Health and Healing, and Meetingbrook Bookshop & Bakery. Eckhart Tolle is author of The Power of Now. (FMI, 594-0310)  (Note: Because of these Friday videos, the time of Meetingbrook’s Friday Evening Open Poetry Readings will continue to be from 4:30-5:30pm)

SATURDAY MORNING PRACTICE AT THE HERMITAGE
Weekly Lectio Divina
: Sat, 6:45am-8:00am
Monthly Retreat 7 hrs, 16Feb, 6am-1pm, (Christian focus this month)

SUNDAY EVENING PRACTICE AT THE HERMITAGE Each Sunday evening, 6:00pm-8:00pm. Practice Silent Sitting, Walking, Listening, Eating, Conversing, Chanting. .
(3, 17 Feb: Buddhist focus; 10, 24 Feb: Christian focus)
All welcome. Bring nothing but willingness to practice with others.

 MORNING PRACTICE AT THE HERMITAGE. (6:05am-6:35am) Silent Sitting - 30 minutes, daily; then, (6:40am-7:00am) Chanting & Mindfulness Walking (MWF Christian; TTh Buddhist). Whatever your tradition or practice come sit together in silence. Simply enter, sit, and leave in silence.

  2. Maybe Zen, Maybe Not, 6:45pm-7: 45pm Metta (Compassion) Practice/Study. Reading Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness, by Sharon Salzberg

WEDNESDAY EVENING CONVERSATIONS: 5:30pm. -6:30pm. These conversations are free, open, informal.

THURSDAY EVENING CHRISTIAN CONTEMPLATION STUDIES:
5:30pm-6:30pm.
We read aloud for 25 minutes, and then converse. Reading Putting On the Mind of Christ – The Inner Work of Christian Spirituality by Jim Marion. Each week we pick up wherever we left off. No need to read outside the hour.

FRIDAY EVENING OPEN POETRY READING,
Note change for Dec-Jan: 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Open reading gathering invites anyone to bring poetry to read, whether your own or others’. Invited under “poetry” are Poems, Letters & Pieces of Journals. We read around the circle at least twice, followed by a brief silence, then discussion. . In addition, we read from  David Whyte’s Crossing the Unknown Sea, Work as a Pilgrimage of Identity.

MUSIC REHEARSAL,
An
opportunity to rehearse individually in ease in a public place, anytime, call or just show up. Also, each Wednesday & Sunday afternoon 1-3:30pm, group playing, join in.
